What is The Basketball Tournament?

The Basketball Tournament is an annual basketball event featuring teams primarily made up of former college stars, many of whom represent teams with alumni from their respective schools. There are 64 teams divided into eight regions competing in a single-elimination format for a winner-take-all prize.

The tournament includes alumni teams representing states such as Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Ohio State, Syracuse, UConn, and more. jl999 Multiple top participants from the 2024 event are set to return this year, including notable players like Willie Cauley-Stein (Kentucky), Montrezl Harrell (Louisville), Russ Smith (Louisville), and Yogi Ferrell (Indiana).

For the eighth consecutive year, TBT will feature the Elam Ending, a format where the game clock is stopped at a predetermined time in the fourth quarter and a “target score” is established. The first team to reach that score is declared the winner. This year’s event will also introduce TBT’s “Home Court Advantage,” allowing host teams to play their games in their home arena through to the championship game. The “Home Court Advantage” was decided by a race to sell 4,000 tickets, with Louisville fans emerging victorious, granting them the right to host the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship game as long as the Louisville alumni team continues to win.
